UWELL Caliburn G5 Pod Kit

No buttons. Not a single one.

The G5 replaces the usual fire button and adjustment keys with a touch sensor behind the screen. Triple-tap to wake the menu, tap through to change wattage or theme, and draw to vape. It sounds like a gimmick until you use it, and reviewers who came in sceptical have said the same thing: it takes a day to learn and then feels obvious.

A touchscreen with nine themes

The screen shows battery level, wattage and coil resistance, with animations, and you can change the theme to one of nine. That is unusual at this price and unusual on a pod kit at all. Most devices in this bracket give you a small monochrome readout or four LED bars.

Seven finishes

The body is aluminium alloy with a matte finish over PCTG, at 65g. That is heavier than a plastic pod kit and it reads as solid rather than bulky.

Six days on a charge

The 1600mAh battery is the main upgrade over the G4 and it is a substantial one. UWELL rates it at up to six days of use per charge, which for a pod kit is genuinely long. Type-C fast charging at 5V/2A handles the top-ups.

Pro-FOCS 4.0

UWELL’s flavour technology, now in its fourth generation, which they say extends cartridge lifespan and flavour concentration by 35 percent over the previous version. In practice that means a pod tastes right for longer before it starts to fade, which matters more to running cost than anything else on the spec sheet.

U² anti-leak construction

Built specifically to prevent condensation and leaking. On any pod kit, leaking is the failure that makes people give up on a device, and it is the thing UWELL has put most engineering into across the Caliburn line.

Four pod resistances, MTL to RDL

Takes Caliburn GPP and GPP Alpha pods at 0.4Ω, 0.6Ω, 0.9Ω and 1.2Ω. Higher resistance for a tight mouth-to-lung draw and salt nicotine, lower for warmer vapour and more volume.

The airflow slider is stepless rather than clicking between fixed settings, so you can find the exact draw you want rather than choosing between someone else’s presets. Combined with the pod range, the G5 covers everything from a cigarette-tight pull to a loose restricted direct-lung draw.

One reviewer notes the 0.6Ω Alpha pod has noticeably more punch than earlier G series pods, particularly with menthol liquids.

3ml pods, top and side fill

Three millilitres is generous for a pod kit and means fewer refills. A 2ml version exists for regulated markets. Filling is from the top or side without pulling the pod out.

How to use

Charge fully before first use. Fill the pod from the top or side, leaving a small air gap, and let a new coil soak for five to ten minutes before your first puff. Triple-tap the screen to access the menu and set your wattage to match the pod. Adjust the airflow slider to taste, then inhale. There is no fire button.
